Wireless Communications
Mobile Internet
Up until today the Internet and mobile telephony have developed side by side but independently of one another. Concurrently with the increasing mobility of people, the demand for wireless access to Internet is increasing. The convergence between the Internet and mobile communication has led to a strong growth and new business opportunities.

This convergence is taking place in speech and datatransfer , between the Internet and mobile telephony and also between content suppliers and operators. High speed computer net is now under construction and include both stationary telephone communication net, broad band techniques and mobile communications network based on the third generation mobile telephony. The growth within the area of Internet and mobile communication in combination with deregulation on the telecommunication market have caused an increased supply of communications services and products. New services have emerged through a constant development of technologies for data communication.

Mobility has become more and more important during recent years and the growth in mobile communication and within the Internet has been significant. New standards such as WAP, Bluetooth, GPS, XML, GPRS and UMTS have emerged. Areas such as safety and user-friendly interface are expected to become more important following the increasing demand for mobile communication systems. The co-operation with software developers, access to the Internet no matter where one is located and the adaptation to constant connected smart phones and palm computers are all contributing to this development.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth (BT) is a communication concept for wireless connection of different units in the office, home or industry. The initiative to the concept was taken by Ericsson. Early in this initiative an interest group was formed consisting of leading telecom and computer enterprises which all drive the standardisation forward. This group today consists of Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, IBM, Intel and Toshiba. Bluetooth is a radio communication system for communication over short distances. The above mentioned interest group is driving the process forward with great strength.

The standardisation group drives the work forward with great force. The standard has been received with great enthusiasm among developer and users. This will bring with it that a great number of units will exist in our surroundings in a few years time. The applications that are mentioned today are for example wireless headsets and automatic transmission of e-mail from lap-top computers to cellular phones.
